The Great Pumpkin Obsession, part 4

10.22.09 Posted in Momhood by Vicky

After last weeks LAME visit to a pumpkin patch in a parking lot we decided to head out and find the real thing. The Mckee Family Ranch was our destination. While it is still not a true actual growing pumpkin patch was a nice outing with our babies and the imported pumpkins made us all quite happy.

There were barnyard animals to enjoy and a petting zoo for the kids. Chica feed the goat below a few crackers which lead to her having a huge smile on her face whenever he came near, they had a connection- she is kind of like that with animals.

Both dude and Chica fed horses for the first time. Chica actually managed to land her cracker inside of the horses mouth. Dude on the other hand…

Put the cracker out for the horse to grab and eat,

ended up a bit scared and quickly pulled the cracker back,

decided to drop the cracker and laugh out-loud while the horse maneuvered under the gate to retrieve his cracker.

I believe dude would have done this again and again all day long, which I wouldn’t have minded since he is such darn cute laugher. However, the manure smell became overpowering so we walked to see what we came for, the great pumpkins…

As part of our entrance fee they offered us refreshments at the ranch. We lingered by the drink table for a few minutes but upon seeing a rat scurry underneath we opted for coming home to eat and enjoy our loot.

One big plump pumpkin to go and a wonderful lovely fall afternoon.

Thanks for celebrating pumpkins with me today!
