Welcome to THE CITY CRADLE where event planning, design and motherhood collide.

Family time *updated

04.28.09 Posted in Momhood by Vicky

Every morning that we can manage it we steal away time together as a family. Matt sometimes pretty often lately works weekends so we steal time together whenever we can.

There are 2 kinds of family time when you have multiple babies around. There is the HAVE TO RUN ERRANDS THAT I CANNOT DO ALONE time like our great trip last week to buy tires. Not so fun.

And there is the WONDERFUL, ENJOY LIFE AND THE BABIES NOT DOING ANYTHING ALL THAT IMPORTANT time, which is by far better!

On the days Matt comes home a little early and we don’t have anything pressing to do we throw everyone in the car and head to the Yardhouse for happy hour. Happy hour is great because there are a million things to distract little babies and keep them happy. It is great because if they cry it’s pretty loud anyway so no one minds. It is great because even if everyone melts down there are 149 beers on tap so it doesn’t seem quite as bad!

If we happen to have a nothing needs doing morning together our favorite thing is to put the babies in their stroller, put Piper on her leash, grab some coffee, and go for a nice long walk. We did just this the other morning and stopped at the park which gave way to the babies 1st swing, slide, and strange park hippo toy experience.

They were VERY into the swing, a little scared of the slide and absolutely HATED the hippo toy.

Friends, what are your favorite family activities to do? Do you spend time at the park or happy hour often? How do you enjoy your fabulous time off???

Write in your answer in the comments and WIN this awesome Little Roo Bjorn cover! That’s right this is my first EVER blog giveaway, and all you have to do is comment on the post and I will be choosing someone by random selection. I own one of these covers as well and they are AMAZING, they not only make your Bjorn look great for those HAVE TO GO AND BUY TIRES days, they are also very easy to clean and have a handy front pocket design…

The contest will run until next Friday May 8th.

Happy commenting….

*Congratulations to KIM from Montyandmarie for winning the Bjorn cover and thanks to everyone who commented. I will be doing more contests in the near future…..

:) Cute picture of the babes both in the swing together…that’s the fun thing about having twins, You’ll get lots of cute pics of them together as they grow!

I think our favorite thing to do as a family so far has been venturing out of our house and braving the crowds at target or- trying to get some fresh air and go on walks. It’s fun now that he’s recognizing our faces more, when he focuses on us or gets excited to hear Dustins voice when he comes home. Can’t wait until we can make him laugh and share those kinds of memories.

ps, Hope to see you guys very soon. I’m bummed it didn’t work out last weekend! It’s been a tad bit stressful trying to move, pack, and deal with a new born, (as you know!) but we are eager to talk and spend (much needed) time with you guys!

    Lots of love
    Kiss the babies for me

The best day so far with my babies and my husband was the Pumpkin Patch. It was perfect for so many reasons. We love fall. The weather was perfect. We’d never been to this particular pumpkin patch and it was AWESOME! The babies didn’t melt down. No one made any rude comments. It was one of the first times we went out together with just our family for more than 1 hour (I was still nursing so I had pumped like crazy to have enough milk for two feedings out). It was a perfect outing.

We get very little time together as a family right now, but we just made plans to go SWIMMING with the babies this Friday! So excited! Just found a pool that heats the water to 88 and has open swim until 6:30 on Friday evenings, so my husband is going to leave work at 5 (gasp!) and we are going to the pool!

“You took your baby….to a BAR!” ;-) Just for old time’s sake.

We are not a very creative family when it comes to outings. With kids, proximity is everything. We often go to parks or run errands, like our fave Target! We live in Seattle so one of our favorites is Alki Beach on nice days.

    Love the park pics!

LOVE the park pics!!! Would you believe my babies are 16 months old and have yet to ride in a swing. Guess they haven’t been to a bar either… unless a restaurant that has a bar counts! You’re amazing mamma!

As a family we play games together or go to the beach. We try to do inexpensive activities. Bike riding, the park and cookouts usually take up our weekends.

  9. Oh, I love the pic with the tongue sticking out!

After dinner each evening we try to spend 1/2 hour reading together. Chloe is 2 1/2 and loves stories. This is our quiet time together where we get to snuggle!

PS. I love my baby Bjorn and this looks really cool!!

-I love my Baby Bjorn, it is a life saver for me.

My kids (age 5 and 8 months) love the park. My son runs around my daughter will swing (and plus I push both my kids-if they are next to each other). At the park I bring a queen size flat sheet so that my daughter (8 months) can play on it or eat (we picnic).
